CSE MLB ALL-STAR PICKS/CARDS

The MLB season marches on, and the summer classic quickly approaches. Several faces, old and new, have been standing out from the crowd and have earned spots in our 2021 MLB All-Star Starting lineup. The CSE team analyzes who we think deserves the nod in the 2021 All-Star game, plus one standout stat and a card we like.

NL Position Players

First Base: Freddie Freeman

  • With previous favorite Max Muncy going down to injury, the time is right for the reigning NL MVP to surge into the starting slot for the NL first baseman. He’s overcoming his slow start nicely, trailing only Acuña in HR, and leading the team in walks.
  • 2011 Finest XFractor RC

Second Base: Ozzie Albies

  • It remains a very real possibility that the Braves have both of their right-side infielders start in the ASG. He is second on the Braves in H, while leading the team in 2B and RBI.
  • 2018 Topps Chrome Pink Refractor RC

Shortstop: Fernando Tatis Jr

  • The Padres’ prodigy continues to silence the doubters, running away with the vote. He is 3rd in the league in HR, 9th in RBI, and 2nd in OPS.
  • 2019 Topps Update RC

Third Base: Kris Bryant

  • He is looking like his 2016 self again, leading his team in BA, OBP, H, R, and SLG.
  • 2015 Topps Chrome RC

Outfield: Ronald Acuña Jr.

  • Acuña leads the trio of possible Braves ASG starters. Although the Braves have been unable to produce results, Acuña is putting up monster numbers (.291/.404/.607), with 19 HR.
  • 2018 Topps Holiday RC

Outfield: Nick Castellanos

  • Castellanos continues to put up ridiculous hitting numbers, batting .344 for the season and consistently bouncing around the top 5 in league BA.
  • 2014 Topps Chrome Autograph RC

Outfield: Jesse Winker

  • The other Reds OF is also putting up big hitting numbers, but also mixing in some power, currently having 17 HR and a .610 SLG.
  • 2014 Bowman Chrome Rookie Autograph

Catcher: Buster Posey

  • Posey has effectively turned the clock back 9 years, hitting .329 on the season while still being extremely effective defensively.
  • 2010 Bowman Draft RC
